Vice-President of Finance
Captain Chris Beebe, a US Airways pilot, has been elected vice-president of
finance for the Air Line Pilots Association, International (ALPA). The election
was held on October 23, 2002, at ALPA's biennial Board of Directors meeting in
Hollywood, FL. Beebe's four-year term will commence on January 1, 2003.
As vice-president of finance, Captain Beebe will be one of four international
officers of the Association. Among other duties, the vice-president of finance
is responsible for the general financial and fiscal administration of the union.
In addition to his duties as VP-Finance, Beebe will be a member of ALPA's
Executive Council, which is made up of the four international officers and
eleven executive vice presidents.
Currently a B-737 captain based in Philadelphia, Captain Beebe has flown at
US Airways for 21 years. He has served as the chairman of the US Airways Master
Executive Council, the highest elective union office for the US Airways pilot
group, since 1998. He is also currently a member of the US Airways Board of
Directors.
As a 20-year ALPA volunteer, he has served as the US Airways Master Executive
Council vice-chairman and secretary-treasurer, and the Legislative Affairs
Committee chairman. He was also the Negotiating Committee chairman for the 1997
US Airways pilot contract negotiations.
Captain Beebe began his commercial airline pilot career in 1977, flying for
Ransome Airlines and Western Airlines before joining US Airways in 1981.
A native of Virginia, Captain Beebe earned his bachelor of science degree in
biology from Penn State University in 1974. He and his wife, Laura, live in
Newtown, PA. They have two daughters, Lauren and Kristen, and a son, Patrick.
