CAPTAIN DENNIS J. DOLAN
First Vice President
Captain Dennis J. Dolan, a Delta Air Lines pilot,
has been elected to his second four-year term as First Vice President of the Air
Line Pilots Association (ALPA). He was unanimously reelected by the
Association's Board of Directors on October 23, 2002.
As First Vice President, Captain Dolan is one of
the four national officers of ALPA. In his capacity as First Vice President he
serves on ALPA's Executive Council, one of the Association’s governing bodies,
which is comprised of the four national officers and nine executive vice
presidents.
Captain Dolan is the chairman of the
Association's Strategic Planning Committee and the National Airspace
Modernization Oversight Committee, serves as ALPA’s liaison to NATCA and is
Chairman of ALPA's Security Task Force. He is a former Executive Vice President
of the Association and also formerly chaired the Delta Master Executive Council,
that pilot group's highest governing body.
Captain Dolan is also the Principal Vice
President-Professional Affairs, for the International Federation of Air Line
Pilots' Associations (IFALPA). Headquartered in Chertsey, England, IFALPA
represents over 100,000 pilots of 95 member associations worldwide. The PVP-Professional
Affairs is responsible for coordinating IFALPA's industrial policies on a
worldwide basis.
Captain Dolan began his ALPA volunteer work as a
member of the Communications Committee of his local council. He has since served
as a technician for the Western Airlines pilots' Merger Committee during the
merger process with Delta Air Lines, has served on the Delta Negotiating
Committee, has chaired the contract administration committee, and was Vice
Chairman of the Atlanta Local Council.
A native of St. Louis, Missouri, Captain Dolan
has been a commercial airline pilot since 1976, when he joined Western Airlines,
which later merged with Delta. He earned his Bachelor of Science & Commerce
degree in Accounting in 1967 at Spring Hill College in Mobile, Alabama, and his
Juris Doctor, cum laude, in 1985 from the St. Louis University
School of Law. Prior to becoming an airline pilot, he served in the U.S. Marine
Corps from 1967 to 1976, where he flew the F-4 Phantom on two tours of duty in
Vietnam, completing 333 combat missions.
Captain Dolan and his wife, Maritza, live in
Roswell, GA. They have three children, Dennis Jr., Rebecca and Robert.
