Daily Scheduling

Lineholder
  • Lineholders can make themselves available for Reserve Holding Open Time (RHOT) trips and for trips that become available through Daily Scheduling.

  • Lineholders can specifically make themselves available for trips that depart with less than a three (3)-hour report time (Late Opening Trips). If a Lineholder gets called for a Daily trip with less than a three(3)-hour report time, s/he cannot pass the trip. However, s/he may remove him or herself from Late Opening Trips prior to being contacted.

"V" Designation Becoming "R" Reserve with Daily

  • In the event that a "V"-designated pilot is not awarded a trip from Future Scheduling, then for the purposes of Daily Scheduling, the "V" Designation day will become an "R" Reserve day.

  • A pilot with a "V" designation remaining in his line cannot be transitioned from "R" to "S."

"R" Reserve

  • An "R" Reserve may not be assigned a trip with less than nine (9) hours notice, unless under the priority of trip assignment provisions.

  • "R" Reserve pilots may list themselves with Daily Scheduling to be available for trips that open between nine and four hours or for Late Opening Trips in the same manner as a Lineholder.

"R" Reserve to "S" Status

  • During unanticipated shortages, the Company may change a Reserve pilot’s sequence of "R" Regular days to "S" days. This process will occur using reverse seniority order. (As of this writing, this provision is being tested to include available days as an additional criterion.)

  • If a Regular Reserve’s days are changed to "S" status, then the Reserve guarantee will be pro-rated for those days at the higher guarantee.

  • If a Regular Reserve’s days are changed to "S" status (after Reserve A/I List process closes), then the Reserve pilot shall have nine (9) hours to transition to "S" status.

Daily Open Trip Processing

Trips that open with departure time greater than nine (9) hours are covered as follows:

  1. Lineholders who have made themselves available to Daily Scheduling (seniority order)—may pass.

  2. "R" Reserves (seniority order)—may pass within category and may be bypassed if the trip would have to be split.

  3. "S" Reserves—lowest time pilot first who could fly the entire trip without splitting—no passing.

Trips that open with departure time less than nine (9) hours, but greater than four (4) , are covered as follows:

  1. Lineholders who have made themselves available to Daily Scheduling (seniority order)—may pass.

  2. "R" Reserves who have made themselves available to Daily Scheduling (seniority order)—may pass within category, except if there is inadequate "S" Reserve coverage for the day as determined by the Company. They may be bypassed if the trip would have to be split.

  3. "S" Reserves—lowest time pilot first who could fly the entire trip without splitting—no passing.

Trips that open with departure time less than four (4) hours away are covered as follows:

  1. Lineholders who have made themselves available to Daily Scheduling (seniority order). A Lineholder may pass trips until three (3) hours from departure. If a Lineholder indicated his/her willingness to take a Late Opening Trip (less than three (3) hours from departure, the Lineholder may not pass).
Note: Lineholders and Regular Reserves must designate themselves for this category if they want to be called.

  2. "R" Reserves who have made themselves available to Daily Scheduling—may not pass. "R" Reserve may be bypassed if the trip would have to be split.

  3. "S" Reserves—lowest time pilot who could fly the entire trip without splitting—no passing.

Priority of Trip Assignment

Priority of trip assignment is used for trips that remain uncovered after the application of Future Scheduling as follows:

(a) Available and qualified lineholders from another domicile who have placed their name with Daily Scheduling.

(b) Available and qualified Regular Reserves from another domicile who are scheduled for duty but do not have an assigned or awarded trip.

(c) In-domicile Short Call Reserve pilots who must fly on days off to cover the trip (most junior first).

(d) In-domicile Regular Reserve pilots who must fly on days off or split another trip to cover the trip (most junior first).

(e) In-domicile Lineholders on days off (most junior first).

(f) Available and qualified Regular Reserves from another domicile who must fly on days off or split another trip to cover the trip (most junior first).

• Priority of trip assignment is used for trips that remain uncovered after the application of Daily Scheduling as follows:

(a) Available and qualified lineholders from another domicile who have placed their name with Daily Scheduling and who can be in position without causing a delay. Scheduling may bypass this category for trips opening within four (4) hours of departure.

(b) Available and qualified Regular Reserves from another domicile who are scheduled for duty but do not have an assigned or awarded trip and who can be in position without causing a delay. Scheduling may bypass this category for trips opening within four (4) hours of departure.

(c) In-domicile Short Call Reserve pilots who must fly into or on days off to complete the trip (most junior first).

(d) In-domicile Regular Reserve pilots who must fly into or on days off or split another trip to complete the trip (most junior first).

(e) In-domicile Lineholders on days off (most junior first).

(f) Available and qualified Regular Reserves from another domicile who must fly on days off or split another trip to complete the trip (most junior first).

Reserve Assigned to Give Up Day Off

Note: Reserve Pilots may not voluntarily fly or be assigned to fly on a day off except by priority of trip assignment provisions which are activated when all normal coverage is depleted.

The day off will be reinstated or an additional vacation day will be added to an existing vacation period or accrual.

The following four options are available:

1) Reinstate the day off, adjacent to a days off sequence in the same month. The specific day is determined by the Company.

2) Reinstate the day off in the same month, but not adjacent to a days off sequence. This day must be acceptable to the pilot.

3) Reinstate the day off, adjacent to a days off sequence in the following month (as determined by the Company) or the pilot may choose Option 4 below.

4) Compensate the pilot with an additional vacation day added to his/her existing vacation or to his/her vacation accrual at the pilot’s option.

Reserve Trip Splitting

  • Trip splits are required to protect days off.

  • Trips will be awarded by seniority with Future (and Daily Scheduling with conditions), but splitting trips will be limited to the pilot’s domicile unless there are no trips open that provide this option.

  • See flow chart for Reserve Trip Splitting.

Reserve Sick

  • Reserves will be charged sick time on a scheduled duty day when unavailable due to illness. Sick time will be charged using the following formula:

Sum of last 3 months pay hours
Sum of last 3 months duty days

=

Duty Day Sick Charge
  • If (hours flown + sick charge) = more than the reserve guarantee or pay cap, then sick usage may be reduced to bring the total to the guarantee or pay cap.
