New Scheduling System . . .

Did You Know?

1)     Primary (and Secondary) lines of time may be constructed to a minimum of 70 hours. This minimum was 75 hours under the old system. 25(B)1.b.

2) There are two types of Reserve lines: "R" (Regular Reserve) and "S" (Short Call Reserve).

3) All trips that remain in open time after Secondary lines have been awarded will be placed into Regular Reserve lines of flying. During the days that contain a trip in their lines of flying, Regular Reserves shall be known as "Reserve Holding Open Time" (RHOT – pronounced "R-hot"). 25(B)4.c.

4) RHOT trips are open time trips. A Lineholder can take an RHOT trip from an RHOT Reserve prior to the RHOT pilot being processed during Future Reserve processing. 25(B)4.c.

5) An RHOT pilot who has a trip taken by a Lineholder will have a "V" (Vacancy) placed in his/her line on the same days that had been occupied by the trip. "RHOT" & "V" pilots will be grouped together and arranged by seniority in the first category processed when trips are awarded by Future Scheduling. This category is so designated because it is processed ahead of "R" (Regular) Reserves who do not have trips in their original Reserve lines. 25(D)3.b.1. and 3.e.1.

6) The RHOT and "V" Reserve designations are only used by Future Scheduling. 25(D)3.

7) An RHOT who has a "V" (because of a "RHOT" trip being taken), and who is not awarded/assigned a trip by Future will turn into an "R" Reserve for Daily Scheduling purposes for the remainder of the day and the next day. 25(D)5.b.

8) An "R" Reserve will not be transitioned to "S" status if there are "V" days remaining in his/her duty sequence.

9) An "S" pilot must be within the geographical area that is 90 minutes normal driving time to the airport parking lot on their duty days. 25(E)2.

10) Following a day off, Daily Scheduling may not require an "R" Reserve to fly a trip that departs prior to 10:00 unless the pilot waives the nine-hour report requirement (nine hours to report for duty plus one hour check-in). 25(E)1.

11) If after being awarded a trip from the A/I list, the pilot becomes illegal to originate the trip, then the pilot will be permitted to pick-up the trip once he/she becomes legal at the point the trip passes through his/her domicile. If the trip does not pass through the pilot’s domicile, he/she will be permitted to pick-up the trip at the point where
he/she becomes legal. 25(D)1.d.1.

12) If after the time of award a pilot remains legal for the origination of a trip, but is projected illegal to complete such trip, the pilot will be permitted to originate the trip and will be allowed to split the trip at the latest point it passes through his/her domicile. If the trip does not pass through the pilot’s domicile prior to becoming illegal, the pilot will be required to split the trip at the point the pilot becomes illegal. 25(D)1.d.2.

13) Future Lineholder processing begins at 0900*, two days prior to the origination of the trip. Reserve Future processing begins at 1100*, one day prior to the origination of the trip.

*These times are subject to change with advanced notice and/or implementation of staggered close-out times. 25(D)2.b. and 25(D)3.a.1.

14) A Lineholder who makes himself/herself available for late opening trips (less than three hours prior to departure), is known as a "Lineholder Available For Late Opening Trips" and cannot pass if contacted by Daily Scheduling with a trip assignment within three hours of departure. 25(D)2.c.2. and 25(D)5.e.1.

15) An "R" Reserve who is awarded a trip by Future Scheduling is released from duty at the point the trip is awarded until the trip departs. 25(E)7.a.

16) An "S" Reserve who is awarded a trip by Future Scheduling is released from duty 12 hours prior to the departure of the awarded trip. 25(E)7.b.

17) Any Regular Reserve who is awarded a charter, is released from duty two days prior to scheduled departure. Charter trip bidding is usually closed out two calendar days prior to the operation of the charter. 25(E)7.c. and 9(C)1.

18) Reserve pilots who are not available to be called by Future Scheduling on a day off prior to a duty day, may contact Future Scheduling in advance of the Reserve A/I processing window to make their requests for the following day. A Reserve pilot who makes use of this advance contact provision must also contact Scheduling to sign in for any awarded/assigned trip. 25(D)3.a.2.

19) A Reserve pilot who is not available to be contacted by Future Scheduling on a day off prior to a scheduled duty day, nor who makes use of the advance contact and sign-in provisions above, and who is awarded/assigned a trip by Future Scheduling, will be contacted at 0001 of the next day for the purpose of notifying the pilot of any awarded/assigned trip. You should be aware that any such trip awarded/assigned by Future might depart prior to 0900. A pilot who fails to contact Future Scheduling is in effect giving away whatever seniority he/she may have and may be assigned whatever trips remain or may be passed entirely. If passed, the pilot will have no claim to any trips awarded/assigned to any other pilot. 25(D)3.a.2.

20) "V," "R," and "S" Reserves can pass a trip to a more junior pilot during Future Reserve assignment list processing. However:

(1) Trips may not be passed out of category.

(2) Trips may not be passed if such pass would result in a split trip. (However, trips that would require a split by all available Reserves within a category may be passed.)

(3) Trips may not be passed if the pass would result in a conflict with a Reserve Open Time trip in another pilot’s line.

(4) Trips may not be passed to a junior pilot in the same Reserve category as the pilot passing the trip if the junior pilot has ten (10) more credited hours (month to date) than the senior pilot. (This restriction applies to the pilot’s actual pay, not projected pay for the month.) 25(D)3.c.

21) Reserve pilots holding trips in their lines (RHOT’s) may trip improve on the same days of the trip in their line by picking up a different trip or series of trips with an equal or greater number of duty days (originally scheduled). Trip improvement by a Reserve pilot cannot reduce the number of duty days, but may reduce pay time. 25(D)3.d.

22) Daily Scheduling may bypass a Reserve pilot for a trip award if the pilot can not fly the entire trip. For example, a pilot who would have to split the trip may not be contacted for the trip at all. 25(D)5.c.2., 3. (trips > 9 hours), 25(D)5.d.2., 3. (trips between 9 and 4 hours), 25(D)5.e.2., 3. (trips < 4 hours)

23) Lineholders who have made themselves available to Daily Scheduling can be bypassed for trips that become available less than four hours prior to departure if the pilot could not fly the entire trip. 25(D)5.e.1.

24) Sick-No-Charge is no longer an option available for Reserves.

25) A Reserve pilot’s daily rate for sick pay will vary based on his/her previous three full months total pay hours. 25(E)6.
